This pandemic makes us realize a lot of things. This pandemic changes a lot of things on the way we live. On the way how we treat people. Somehow, this pandemic is also an eye opener to all of us. How about you? Do you have any realizations at this moment?
First of all, let us discuss what is COVID-19. Coronavirus (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus (WHO). It can be transmitted through droplets. This coronavirus targets our respiratory system. The symptoms are usually flue, dry cough, and shortness of breath. But we can prevent the spread of the disease if we practice proper hygiene and most specially if we stay at home.

Many are affected by this pandemic. Many businesses stopped and many loses their job. There I realize, how can those people survive? Especially those who are isang kayod isang tuka. How about them? How will construction workers feed their family if they do not have any money?
This pandemic motivates me to be a good nurse in the future. I do not want to be just a nurse, I want to help people at the very best that I can. Seeing our front-liners fighting against the coronavirus, it serves as my inspiration and motivation, that one day, I will also be one of them fighting against any disease that life may give us.
Honestly, at first i was full of doubt on taking this course. Im hearing a lot of people saying that this course is very difficult. I also doubt my self. I came to point where i questioned myself, will i be able to pass nursing? Do i can? But now, at our present situation I can see that knowledge is not enough. It is not enough that you are intelligent. You have to put your heart on what you are doing. Why? Because fighting this kind of disease is also risking your life. Our front-liners are very vulnerable to coronavirus. But why are they still there? It is because their hearts want to serve people. I know, we know, there are nurses and doctors out there who choses not to fight against coronavirus because they are afraid they might get one. I understand them. But I am very proud and i look up to those doctors and nurses who never think twice to help our fellow countrymen to fight against coronavirus. I want to be like them. I want to be someone who help people without any doubt, without thinking twice. Because that is the real essence of helping. You help without expecting any returns. As what Mother Theresa says “give until it hurts” that is giving. I promise myself that in the future, I will serve fellow countrymen without expecting any returns.
I hope that this pandemic will soon come to an end. We all want to be back on our normal life. I can see a lot of people suffering because of this. As a nursing student, I know that I cant send a huge help to those people who are in need. But i can help people in many little ways. And that makes a difference. Sharing the right information to people and teaching them the proper hand washing is a huge help. It not an excuse that I am just a student, and i don’t have any job to help. There are a lot of ways to help. The best way now is to always pray to the Lord to guide us, to protect us, and have this coronavirus be gone.
